The easiest place to park for Lulworth Cove is the main Lulworth Cove Car Park, just outside West Lulworth. For Durdle Door, use the Durdle Door Car Park at BH20 5PU. Both are managed by the Weld Estate and parking can become very busy during summer weekends and school holidays.
If you’re planning a visit to Lulworth Cove, Durdle Door or Lulworth Castle, knowing where to park before you arrive can save time and avoid the frustration of trying to find a space on the narrow roads around West Lulworth.

How far is Durdle Door from the car park?
The Durdle Door car park is not right beside the beach. From the car park, there is a walk of around 15–20 minutes to reach Durdle Door, with a steep downhill section on the way. The walk can be challenging for anyone with limited mobility, so check the route and conditions before setting off.
The return journey is uphill, so allow extra time if you’re visiting with young children, carrying beach equipment or have limited mobility.
The route can also become busy during peak periods, particularly on warm summer days. Sensible footwear is recommended if you’re planning to continue along the coast path or explore the beach.
If you’re visiting Durdle Door as part of a longer coastal walk, check your route before setting off, as the walk back to the car park can be more tiring than expected.
Can you park overnight in Lulworth?
The main Lulworth Cove and Durdle Door car parks are primarily intended for visitors during the day, so if you’re staying overnight in West Lulworth, it’s worth checking the parking arrangements with your accommodation before you arrive. Overnight parking and sleeping in vehicles are not permitted in the main Lulworth Estate car parks (Lulworth Cove and Durdle Door)

If you’re visiting Lulworth Castle, there is a dedicated car park at the estate.
Parking was £3 for the day in May 2026, and parking allows access to the estate’s park and woodland walks, children’s playground and picnic areas.
A little Lulworth tip
If you’re walking through the woodland, look out for the peacocks. You can buy peacock feed for 20p, so keep a couple of coins handy if you’d like to feed them!
